So I did it myself last night, Holy Hell!!! Pretty sure they couldn’t have made that much more of a pain in the ass 8-O … It took about three hours with quite a few times I had to chase my 3 year old girl down as she carried off parts… Oh and a dinner break…
This is the point where I was thinking “what the hell have I got myself into

So The bottom cable was easier than I thought but not easy…
I put her back together and took it for a test ride and it turns out when you put the mirrors back on you are supposed to tighten the bolts, cause if you don’t the mirror will just fall off :-o :-o well not all the way it will just spin around and hang by the remaining loose bolt
I was super excited to ride it to work today but had to much stuff to bring with me. Not to bad I do love my jeep

I even had to loosen the dampener to get the cables out.
Hard to see but look at the bottom cable, Don’t see it? that because it’s way the F down there and almost no tool would fit and no way can you get fingers to it..

@mac It wasn’t to bad, I had it build up in my mind that it was this huge deal so I guess it was easier than I thought.. The key is if you don’t have patience DON’T try it.. I have pretty good patience and I had to walk away a few times because I could feel my heart rate go up (thats when tools start flying around and breaking things in my garage).. I don
t’t know about non California bikes but the “pair” tubes to the side of the air box sucked haha

Oh and I replaced the front screen on my I-phone the other day and it was harder than this

How many miles did you have on the cable before replacing it?

The bike has 6500 miles but they didn’t wear out the guy I bought it from laid it down and it went all the way over and bent the metal tubes just out of the bracket on the twist. So it still worked but the cables were binding up and would not snap back. This was incredibly scary, when you gave it throttle it would stick and it was hard to twist it back…

Ya this job is a pain in the butt. It’s much easier with 2 people though. Me and my uncle did this in like 20 mins. and we used the pointy long reach pliers. defiantly made the job a looot easier.

Not the stock ones that I used. If you are a track guy you can get 1/6 turn aftermarket ones. That means you when you twist the throttle you go from 0 to wide open is 1/6th of a turn versus the stock.. I ride 99.999% street so I don’t need to get to WOT that fast, if I was on the track I would swap out to 1/6th

If I did the turned cabled setup, i’d be pulling a wheelie from when I leave my house to when I get back.
