Hittin mid 70s here now. Gonna rain Fri-Mon though :censored:
Not afraid of riding in the rain I just don’t like to get wet on the way TO work and it’s so much clean up, especially on this white bike. Someone said once when you get home to rinse it of quickly with a hose and then it’s not so much work to clean after it dries. Good advice.

I overslept and didn’t make it to the gym, so I have some extra time this morning. Boss sent a text that we will start an hour later than usual. I’ll make the most of that and take a nap. Rain finally tapers off today and the temperature starts to drop, coupled with gusty winds. I am watching the news and some places received close to 3″ of rain yesterday, and another 1″ is possible today. We average 4″ of rain for the entire month of April! Let’s hope our drought doesn’t start this early in the year. Rain is forecasted once again for Monday.

April showers, eh 94f2-08rr ?! WE are 80% plus through Monday around here for rain as well although it really didn’t drop much yesterday. I’m looking forward to some green grass after the coldest winter we’ve had around here! Trees are budding huge. The new baby blood orange tree survived, luckily, and the red maple out front is covered in new leaves. All the plants in the herb garden died but a couple of the plants in the flower garden are sprouting again. Hopefully better weather for planting next weekend and we will get back to fresh herbs, mint, peppers and such!

No kidding spdygak! I swear the news reported on Friday that parts of the state, along the Ohio River, received 8″ of rain. It has rained here just about all day. We had better have some magnificent May flowers… And it is official; we start mowing next week at work. First week of twenty-four.

The grass is changing up here as well. The nitrogen the snow brought has been released with this rain and the grass doesn’t seem to be the same hue as it was to start the day.

I am ready to pick cherries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. Eat apples by the bushel. Bury my face in a juicy pear.

Yum! I need to plant berries this year. We didn’t do well with tomatoes and strawberries but is like to try black/raspberries. We aren’t the best green thumbs, we spen to much time doing other things and neglect the garden. Tara makes amazing stuff with the lemons and hopefully by next year, blood oranges. Infused vodkas anyone?

I picked over 7lbs of cherries last summer, and 4lbs of strawberries. A friend has two huge Cherry trees in his yard. One is 30′ tall. I went to a “you pick” strawberry patch. I had a blast. I could’ve spent all day there. There were a handful of other pickers. The part I enjoyed the most was the solitude and quiet. I have a few places that I like to go and pick blackberries, but with the drought we’ve had the last two years; the brambles have suffered and the property manager at the state park cut had most of them down. We have black raspberries that grow wild; they are native. My parents bought and planted red raspberries in their yard about eight years ago. Those things are great! They have spread more than desired. They also have a grape vine, a white and a yellow Peach tree. Jams and jellies galore. I even bought a few mangos last year and made mango freezer jam. I could eat that with a spoon. Parents have a garden too. Tomatoes, cucumbers and different types of peppers are mostly planted.

And to finally answer your question, an emphatic yes to an infused vodka. Over night that to me please and thank you. :-D I have seen blood oranges in the grocery. I may actually try them this year. They always look good.

I’ll have more info in a day or two @fishfryer I am helping with the training and we have soft openings this weekend. I should have the final menu today.

Finally have a few minutes where I don’t have to be in to work between 5 and 7am. I went in yesterday morning but did manage to get a group ride in before having to go back at 5pm for another soft opening. There was 13 of us that made a run to New Orleans for a car meet.

Not a great pic but here are some of the entrees that we tried during training. The game hen with oyster dressing, ribeye with bordelaise and horseradish smashed potatoes, the “surf an turf” – NY strip stuffed with fried oysters and blue cheese topped with hollandaise and bordelaise – OMG this stuff is good!

I’m down to meet up anytime. If you Florida guys don’t want to come out this far we could plan a spot a little more central to us all.

we got some late night riding in last night after work. Did some fun dark country roads then went to Taco Bell. The lobby was closed so we were going to hang in the parking lot but the manager said as long as we didn’t make a mess we could come in :socool:

@94f2-08rr The pink drink was a Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka (Mississippi’s own) concoction. It was decent, not quite as sweet as I like. The food was a beef brisket with cold horseradish potato salad. The broth was so good we had to clean the bowl with a roll. The other is fried alligator in a chili mayo. Had a bit of mint and thinly sliced pickled onions. Very good with a nice spicy kick. This is Cochon in New Orleans.

So we are having a car/bike wash fundraiser for the riding club I’m in. We are just getting started with about 12 or so of us. Good group of friends. I didn’t really want to get too involved I just wanted to ride but since I know a lot of the good roads I got nominated to be a road captain. Kinda cool picking the route but the pressure is on to keep it fresh. At least they stopped riding up and down the beach. It gets so lame!

Good morning all. It is currently in the low 40s, with a clear sky. After eight of the last eleven days have had rain, I’ll tak the cooler temperatures.

And just how am I spending my morning? I am at the gym nursing the smallest of hangovers, riding a stationary bike, enjoying AC-DC’s “Back in Black” album.

I hope everyone has a great day and makes the most of it!

I sooooo tired. Next restaurant (bar) opening this weekend, we hope, health department doesn’t like out open bar on the pool deck. Awaiting approvals. But the inside is coming along. More of a lounge type atmosphere with a focus on cocktails. We now have 8 beers on draft on the pool deck side.

oh, and we got this fancy DJ booth!
