Thanks guys, hopefully I can make the best of it – it’s contingent on number of races competed in, and races won, so my recent 1st place is helpful.

I finally played around with mountings for the new camera – I have a mounting point on the front, and one on the side, but since the body work is so thin, and moves around so much in the wind, I’m not super happy with the shakiness of the test footage, and that was at low speeds around the neighborhood.
I think a mount on the front-most portion of the tank, and another on the tail, would be best, but I will need to get more flat adhesive mounts.

    Front…

    Side…

    Round 6 Race Report

I’m sad to say that this “Race Report” involves no racing at all.
The issue that surfaced at GMP, returned, and I only got 1 full session in, and a few laps in a couple of other sessions. :poundinghead:

I was still leaning heavily toward it being a rich fueling issue, as this thing has run PERFECTLY at all rounds before GMP in August, and it was so humid there – since it was also somewhat humid in the early part of this last Saturday, I decided to pursue that resolution.

I tore the bike all the way down to carb removal, replaced the 142 mains with 140, and pulled the shim out of all the needles – next time out on track, the issue quickly returned, though this time it seemed to be intermittent.

Also, I dragged my shift-side rearset during the first of the short sessions, bending it a bit, and while I was straightening it back out, it snapped , so I had to borrow a rather tattered OEM unit from a fellow F2 racer… it ain’t pretty, but it did the job for as long as I needed it to!

At any rate, since I had no intention of racing this machine past this season, I’m working toward a new bike – I have a short list of likely culprits for the issue, and when I confirm it’s fixed, the F2 race bike will be for sale.

I will be skipping the final round, at NCM in Kentucky, to make more funds available for the new machine.

The race bike is officially up for sale!

If any of you know someone looking for a well-built, fully ready-to-race machine, for a track day bike, first race bike, or something to run in a “vintage” class, like WERA V7, CCS Classic, or CMRA Classic, PLEASE point them to my for sale thread: http://ridecbr.com/forums/topic/cbr600f2-race-bike-for-sale/

It is also listed in the WERA Classifieds.

And, the F2 race bike is SOLD!!

It will without a doubt hurt to see it roll away on Sunday  , but I’m sure I’ll feel better when I get the new one in my possession!
I’ll be making a $2000 payment toward the new one, on Monday, leaving me with just $1100 to go! :gocrazy:

Well, I still have the other F2 project to finish, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do next, for a build project.
If you’re talking about the new race bike, it’s a former Larry Pegram machine – an AMA Supersport 600RR.

    Here’s some of the details:

-Apex radial master cyldinder & lever
-Motor has a lot of HRC internals – don’t have all details
    -Ohlins fork internals (.95kg/mm)
    -Penske Triple shock
    -Billet top triple clamp
    -GPR steering damper
    -Woodcraft rearsets
    -Woodcraft clip-ons
    -Renthal grips
    -NRC stator cover
    -Lightened flywheel
    -APE CCT
-PC III (tuned for 118hp at the wheel on pump gas
    -Bazzas quick shifter
    -Zero Gravity Double-Bubble
    -BMC air filter
    -EBC wave rotors
-SBS dual carbon racing brake pads
-Lightened rear rotor (uncertain of brand)
    -Speigler braided stainless lines

    Extras include:

-Spare forks with Penski internals (.85kg/mm Race Tech springs)
-Cycle Cat rearsets (custom made set for Pegram)
-Cycle Cat clip-ons (custom made set for Pegram)
    -Spare levers
    -Spare cush drive with sprocket
-Wheel set that might need straightening
-2 extra sets of crashed bodywork, that could be repaired
-New supersport tail that uses stock seat
-OEM rotors, starter, flywheel, brake lines, and top triple clamp

I’m not sure that I’d call this a project or not – it’s just my new race machine, but I guess we’ll have to just see what happens when I get it, see if I begin to wring my hands while pondering WHAT could be done?

Sharp looking bike! Will it be in Indiana next year?

The Indiana round is the first round, and it’s usually early (April), so I may not have the funds to make it, after paying off the new bike, prepping it, etc… we’ll just have to see.

Well, whatever happens, I hope to make it to a race wherever that may be.

How far are you from East St. Louis? It’s about 4 hours, maybe, is that about right?

@jnsracing – According to Google maps, I am 4hrs, or 277.7mi, away. The last time I rode to St. Louis, it took about 5hrs with fuel stops and to eat. Is this the next closest race?

Yes, IF I am unable to make Putnam Park next year, though I really hope to make it there, as I missed a lot of track time while there this year! :-?
