Finally put a new front tire on my girl so that I can bring her to pass inspection. I went with a Metzeler M7 RR since there is a Metzeler M3 on the back that still looks brand new.05/04/15 at 11:24 pm #66862
In what would be two weeks ago, I cleaned my bike to test out the new soap I had purchased. It worked pretty well. It is a spray and wash product. While working, my nephew pushed his bicycle over and we washed his together. I had him dry it a little and then I sprayed some Honda polish on the frame. He loved it. It made my insides smile. Once finished with his, I finished with the polish on mine. I knew I would be doing two benefit rides this past weekend and wanted to get the bike washed. I finally added something at the end.
After work on Friday, I added a little detail and continued cleaning. I didn’t have the bike stands at my house the weekend before, so I went about cleaning the rims. Some degreaser for the clean and the spray polish again for the shine. It is times like that when I reconsider having my rims powdercoated or painted. I also used a paint marker. I like the way the white breaks up the black of the tire and rim. I cleaned the stains on the tail piece and light left from the exhaust and added a sticker!
Saturday’s benefit ride was for a 15y/o girl who has cancer. Had a pretty good turn out. On the day of the ride, I was told 154/155 bikes. It was later posted by a member of the organizing club there were 200 or more bikes and the group stretched for 2.2mi. It was escorted almost the entire way.
All cleaned again for Sunday’s ride. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month and the ride was for that; to bring awareness. The proceeds went to The Special Olympics from that county. I haven’t heard a total number for this ride. As we were staging to leave, a gentleman came over to me and the four other bikes around me and asked us to hold on. Two of the athletes posed for a picture with us. They both stood right by my bike. Once the picture was taken, they both turned around and waved. I returned the wave. The one that was closest to me, I extended my hand in order to shake his. He stuck his hand right out and grabbed mine. We done the traditional shake; followed by the hands clasped around the thumbs, the fingers curved and locked and then a fist bump. Right after the bump, I blew it up! He saw me and copied. He couldn’t see inside my helmet, but I was grinning as much as he was. He was standing on the corner waving to everyone as we left, saw me, smiled real big and pointed at me. I pointed right back and waved. They may never fully understand the impact the motorcycle community had on them and their sports, but I know their impact on myself.05/04/15 at 11:50 pm #66863

@admin – yes it is. I like the white one too; white and flat black. They were probably my favorites.05/09/15 at 12:11 pm #67063
Just buttoned up new brake pads all the way around and brake fluid. Stops literally on a dime.05/11/15 at 12:32 am #67114

Put some new brake pads on the rear the other ones were BAD! Changed the oil and filter. Finally have enough miles on the new engine to run synthetic in her. Also adjusted the clutch. Tomorrow I’ll adjust the throttle and clean/lube the chain and and adjust it if necessary.
Picked up a set of Driven Racing D-Axis bar ends that came in the mail today. They looked sweet on the test fit. Just waiting for the retainer clips to reinstall the bar weights.
I might do a little modding on them just haven’t decided yet….
Oh! And I picked up some Loctite to insure I don’t loose these @yanahmean.06/01/15 at 9:50 pm #67760
Added a carbon fiber looking tank guard today. Will take pics later on. Had to do something because I always wear a belt. Color is a bit off but once carbon parts go on, it will look better.06/03/15 at 7:57 pm #67840

Yesterday I got the throttle adjusted. Started adjusting the chain and some how got it all out of wack, but walked away from it because I was about to loose my cool. Walked in the shop today and had it done in about 2 minutes. Not real sure what I did to it yesterday or how I managed to do it, but it’s fixed now.
As I was walking into the shop I got a call from the the Honda shop and my retainer clips are finally in. Can’t wait to get these new D-Axis bar ends on. Just wish they came in orange…. or do they?11/16/15 at 12:40 am #71072
Rode to Frankfort, KY; taking the route I have been wanting to take for months. It was a perfect ride. I stayed on the road, had a nice pace and a nice line. Felt like I was tearing it up. Would have liked to have had my gopro. Ended up riding over 300 miles today. Working on these still. This was at the halfway point of the trip. It was too late for pictures once I got home.
Passed another part of this place a little up the road. I happened to notice this building beside the gas station I was stopped at, during the above picture, for gas and a break. I knew it was down there, just didn’t know where. It has been on my “To Visit” list for a while. Looks like I’ll have to make a return trip. If I am not mistaken, Buffalo Trace Distillery is part of the Bourbon Trail. If you haven’t heard of it and/or find the distillation process interesting, look it up.11/16/15 at 7:27 am #71077

Yes, that is 22 year old paint. I was/am impressed.
I like it, but then again I do not. I think the problem I have is coverage. The yellow doesn’t seem to cover as well as the white.08/21/16 at 11:46 pm #76675
Felt there were too many pictures in my last post to add more. I cleaned my ’08RR today for a big event next Saturday. While the race is no longer in Indianapolis for MotoGP, the cruise-in is still planned for Saturday.
First picture, I am about 10′ behind the bike and the second is from about 12′ away. The white dots are the reflection of sunlight; which hurt my eyes. The stuff I used was amazing. A quick rinse, a degreaser spray and rinse, followed by Hondabrite wash, two coats of Honda spray polish and, lastly, a coat of SC1 clear coat. After uploading these pictures, I noticed a spot on my tank cover. It is a fly. I remember seeing it there after walking back up to the bike after taking the pictures… stupid fly.06/23/17 at 10:35 pm #78445
Catching up… and hopefully finding everything.
